Linda Perry

October 23, 1932 - July 27, 2020

Linda Perry (nee Yi Tong Uk) entered into rest early morning Monday July 27, 2020 at home with her son in South Saint Louis County. She is proceeded in death by her husband Major Ronald Perry US Army Retired, her father Yi Jun Mok, mother Kim Kwa Ka (nee Futah Watanuke) brother Yi Tong Som, brother Yi Tong Yop, sister Yi Tong Bang, and brother Yi Tong Sun. She is survived by her daughter Patti (Tom) Patton of Ballwin, son Harold (Josephine) Perry of South Saint Louis County, loving grandchildren Taylor Patton, Claire Patton and Paige Patton, dearest sisters Dr. Yi Tong Bun of Seoul Korea and Yi Tong Yae of Korea she was an Aunt, Great Aunt and Friend to many. Linda was born in Pyong Yang North Korea. Soon after her family moved to Manchuria where she spent most of her childhood. It was in Manchuria where Linda trained as a speed skater. Due to the war, Linda and her family walked from Manchuria to Seoul Korea. At the young age of 19, Linda moved to Taegu Korea where she became employed by the US Army working as a secretary. It was here she met her husband of 37 years Major Ronald Perry US Army Retired. Linda spent her married years living between Korea and many US cities, but it was Saint Louis that Linda finally called home. The biggest joy in Linda’s life was being a mother to Patti and Harold. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, making floral arrangements and arts and crafts. Linda read and spoke fluently Japanese, Korean and English. She would spend time reading books in Japanese, watching old Korean love movies and listening to her favorite singer Patti Paige. Linda would go swimming every morning until August 2014 when she suffered a stroke and had bleeding on the brain, it was this event that left her with Dementia and changed her life. Linda battled this horrible disease 6 years. Through this battle Linda remained one of the kindest, sweetest and loving ladies. On days that weren’t so easy Linda would say, “I am strong, I am a fighter, I am a survivor.” She proved this every day.
