Dorothy Louise Curd February 26, 1947 – May 16, 2025 Dorothy Louise Curd (née Tibbles), age 78, of Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on February 26, 1947, to Clifford and Loretta Tibbles, Dorothy—affectionately known as “Dot” by many—lived a life marked by fierce love, deep loyalty, and a boundless energy that touched everyone around her. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, Meemaw, Great Meemaw, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Randy Lee Curd, and by her brothers Robert (Marilyn), Gene, and Russel (Diane) Tibbles. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Janet (Tim) Funicelli; her treasured grandchildren, Nicholas Funicelli, Anthony (Lacey Noggle) Funicelli, Christopher Funicelli, Angela (Franky Bates) Funicelli, and Amber (Shane Hale) Funicelli; and her great-grandchildren, Amaya and Lucas Bates, who brought joy and light into her later years. Dorothy is also survived by her loving sister Janet (Joseph) Benwell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who all held a special place in her heart. Dot was a proud, feisty, and independent woman with a generous heart. She spent 36 years working at the Carpenter's District Council in St. Louis, Missouri, as a Claims Manager and HIPAA Administrator, where she was known for her dedication and work ethic. Even after retiring, she remained active, later working in the deli at Schnucks to stay connected to her community. A lifelong animal lover, especially of cats and dogs, Dorothy supported numerous charities close to her heart. She loved gardening, cooking, and hosting family gatherings—occasions filled with laughter, love, and her signature spirit. A passionate sports fan, she cheered enthusiastically for the St. Louis Cardinals, Blues, and, during their time in the city, the Rams. NASCAR was another great love of hers—especially Talladega—and she and Randy often took road trips to races, sometimes with their grandchildren tagging along for the adventure. To know Dorothy was to experience unwavering love, quick wit, and an ever-helping hand. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the lives she touched with her kindness and strength. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Mortuary - Kirkwood, located at 10301 Big Bend Rd., Kirkwood, MO 63122. In honor of Dorothy’s giving nature, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a local animal shelter or charity of your choice—just as she would have wanted.
