Mary Jo Moore

On Tuesday, December 6th, 2016, Heaven gained another bright smile. Mary Jo Moore passed away at home, surrounded by family. She leaves behind daughters Helen Jo Gattuso and Becky Head, her favorite granddaughter, Whitney Friend, and the other one, Kate Gattuso. She leaves also nieces and nephews Sam Colasanti, Kim Colasanti, Connie Colasanti, Jeff (Pauline) Moore, Jim (Kay) Moore, David (Lorie) Moore, Betsy (Steve) Evans, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins. She was preceded in death by her greatest love and husband, Fonz Moore, her parents Louis and Connie Colasanti, brothers Louie and Bobby Colasanti, nephews Robbie Colasanti and Chris Moore, and “Grandson in Love” Pete Friend. Mary Jo leaves behind too many friends and neighbors to name, some friendships spanning over 50 years. Mary Jo was an avid reader and lover of books. She was proud to have earned an English degree after deciding to leave Pre-Med to become a wife and then a mother. She enjoyed traveling, not only all over the United States, but also abroad. She was a proud West Virginian, and went home as often as possible. Mary Jo loved music and the arts, going to The Rep, and spent many nights dancing with friends. While not a drinker on most occasions, she was a proud member of The Long Branch Drinking Club in her favorite vacation spot in Colorado. Always an entertainer, Mary Jo was legendary as an incredible hostess and cook. She was very happy spending days in the beautiful gardens and flower beds around her house. She was often surrounded by people of all ages, entertaining with her talents as an incredible story teller, and was sought out by many to impart her worldly advice. She may have been happiest when surrounded by her family (especially Whitney), whether baking Christmas cookies with her girls, or just sitting around and talking. Mary Jo had a smile that could brighten any room, and gave hugs that could brighten any day. She had kind words for everyone she spoke with, and greeted all as a friend. Forever in our hearts, she will be missed by many, and always so very loved. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Salvation Army or VFW.
