Mike Vernon Jacob Weiss

Michael Vernon Jacob Weiss of Cedar Hill, Missouri was born on August 26, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Donald and Jacqueline Elders Weiss and entered into rest on January 13, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in South County, Missouri at the age of 56 years, 4 months, and 18 days. He is survived by: His parents: Donald and Jacqueline Weiss of Perryville, Missouri; (2) Sisters: Donna Gorneault of Clearwater, Florida and Pamella McCord of Robertsville, Missouri, his wife: Carlene (Brotherton) Weiss of Cedar Hill. Mike and Carla were married 25 years, (1) Step-son/wife: Chris & Heather Savage of Bonne Terre, Missouri, A very special Aunt: Beverly Bardle of Kirkwood, Mo, Special Cousins: Sheri and Richard Hunt of High Ridge, MO, Nephews & Nieces: Uriah McCord of Missouri, Monica McCord of Missouri, Grant Clevinger of Florida and Melinda Clevinger of Florida. Plus many other relatives and friends. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Mike was a very interesting man. He loved music and every time he picked up those sticks you knew you were in for a treat. However, Mike was also an excellent singer. The music flowed from his heart. Mike loved his parents, wife, his sisters, his whole family, including his church family. He had a very special relationship with his sister, Pam. They could finish each others sentences and then be mad at each other in a split second, but it wouldn’t last long. Mike’s mother not only gave him life but 35 years ago gave Mike one of her kidneys. It's been said for years that his mom gave birth to him twice. Carla taught Mike how to love fishing and boating. He followed baseball, basketball and football. Mike accomplished one of his dreams just a year and a half ago when he bought a Harley Davidson Sportster. I remember the first day he got it he brought it by the church to show everyone. It was awesome to see the joy in his eyes. I was privileged to ride several times with Mike but I think he dropped it almost every time we rode. He was never moving very fast but he and the bike would just fall. But I found out later that Mike was waiting to have a hip replacement done and he couldn't hold the bike up in certain positions without popping that hip out of socket. Mike was such a trooper. When Mike was healthy he loved to work out, lift weights, pump iron, but a great evening for Mike was sitting at the drums playing with his band or waking up on Sunday Morning to play drums for the morning worship. Mike loved the Lord and after Mike got saved, he told his Sister Pam about what it meant to know Christ as her Savior and she also accepted the Lord as Her personal Savior. To know Mike is to know a man who had walked through much pain. The Apostle Paul said, “he had fought the fight and finished the course.” He was speaking about the fight for the Gospel and the plan God had for him in life. Mike fought a brave fight against a lot of overwhelming physical odds. There were many times I left his side believing that I would not see him alive again, and the next day Carla or Pam would text me and say he was doing great. Or I would report to our people on Wednesday that Mike was not doing good and the time was short and Joyce would say, Oh no I saw him today and he was doing fine. So many unexplained recoveries, we saw so many miracles in his life, which we must never give up hope, even when things look grim. We will all miss our Brother Mike.
